Strung Like a Horse – ‘Crazy Like Me’
Strung Like a Horse releases their first official video, “Crazy Like Me,” from their debut studio album, WHOA!, produced by renowned Grammy-winner Matt Ross-Spang (Jason Isbell, John Prine, Margo Price). The record this month debuted at #2 on the Amazon Alt-Country/Americana chart, #2 on the Billboard Bluegrass Albums chart, #4 on the Alt-Country Specialty radio chart, and recently appeared on No Depression’s Best of the Month playlist.
“She wanted him to be someone that he wasn’t, and he wasn’t going to change,” is how frontman Clay Maselle explains the lyrics of “Crazy Like Me,” written about a former bandmate’s difficulty in maintaining relationships on the road. And the video’s opening line, “I was never gonna marry you, told you I never would,” sung by the lead singer shackled in the back of an old green pickup driven by a striking nurse, channels the rebellious spirit and unpredictable humor for which the fan-favorite touring act has become known. The stunning footage of Tennessee’s landscape is on full display through the lens of cinematographer, Tomás Donoso. Filmed on location at the former US Volunteer Army’s TNT Bunker 93, near the band’s hometown of Chattanooga, the camera races down ravines, dances through dense woods, and teeters along clifftops as guards Eric “Crispy” Crisp (drummer), Dan Pinson (bassist), and Tyler Martelli (guitarist) pursue bunker escapee Maselle.
The single “Crazy Like Me” from Strung Like a Horse’s first studio album, WHOA!, is out on Transoceanic Records now.
