Film and Artwork part of Mellencamp Tour
It will be a multi-media evening as John Mellencamp pays a visit this fall to a theatre near you. Just three weeks into his No Better Than This tour highlighting tracks from his latest record produced by the great T Bone Burnett, the Seymour, Indiana native will pay his respects to Northeast Ohio as he travels the Midwest on the first leg of the tour.
The show will promptly start around 6:45PM with a viewing of It’s About You, a film by Kurt and Ian Markus that chronicles Mellencamp’s 2008 tour of minor-league baseball stadiums with Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson. Some of you may remember the concert showcasing the three musical legends that played at the ballpark in Lake County. Not only does the film include stripped down recording sessions in Memphis, Savannah, and San Antonio from his new critically acclaimed album, but also provides commentary on the state of America during the tour. Between the film and the concert, you will have time to view several of John Mellencamp’s original paintings that will be gracing the lobby.
If you have not seen 2008 Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame inductee John Mellencamp, he will deliver the goods from his extensive recording catalog which covers 34 years. This tour will find John playing more guitar from solo acoustic to full blown electric with his band including familiar and some dusted off gems that have not been performed live for some time. Expect the two hour plus show to start promptly at 8:30PM and include hits from “Authority Song” to “West End”. So all you rockers, get off the couch and knock another one off your bucket list when Mr. John Mellencamp comes to your town. A movie, an art show, and a concert all for one price …… it gets no better than this 😉
