Earth Day Celebration!
Carly Bak & Louie Palma Earth Day Celebration
Valinda/StarBird – The Earth Day Celebration at Crystal River is ten years old. It was a nice location—–the stage was right on the water and their were various booths, food, and displays for the occasion. The no-see em situation got SO BAD—that by the time we went to do our set—–twenty minutes into an hour we gave it up–and ten minutes later—they were shoving sound equipment under the canopy to avoid the rains.
The day was saved by a riveting, hard core songwriter’s jam after the fest at the house of Lee Paulet’s—–it went on for at least three hours—maybe more—there were ten of us—-Carla Bak has developed a powerful gutsy folk/blues voice in the last couple of years and her songwriting skills are just as powerful. Some of the songs that came out around the circle really should be put in a compilation—–Lee—–called “No See-um, Just Hear-um” (!!!!!!) some of it was Florida music but alot was “Other”—and Jay and I enjoyed ourselves immensely and finally had to go home.
