Cotton Jones -Tall Hours in the Glowstream
Tall Hours in the Glowstream
Prepare for a trip to yesteryear, back to the days of vinyl and polyester when Spaghetti westerns ruled the cinema and Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty were the King and Queen of country pop cosmopolitan. This is the world Georgia duo Cotton Jones is trying to pay tribute to with their second full length release Tall Hours in the Glowstream.
Songwriters Michael Nau and Whitney McGraw have taken their mournful Appalachian melodies and surrounded them with clever accompaniment using all the bells and whistles (literally) of vintage instruments and Lo-Fi tech they could find. Recorded and produced by the pair in their living room studio Glowstream is soaked in so much reverb they may have created a new genre something akin to “country retroverb,” or “echo lounge folk.”
