CD Review – Lee Marcus
To his credit, Lee has assembled some good original songs by several writers, including himself. On his own “Blood and Sweat,” he nailed it! And… he has made it distinctly and uniquely his own. Now he needs to go back and figure out just what and how he did it and do it all the time. On the old standard “Life’s Railway To Heaven,” he again put it all together, even including a drum track to make it chug right along. Nice touch! The only misstep was including “Will The Circle Be Unbroken.” With his songwriter friends, his own talents and his instinct for finding good songs that fit him, it was an unnecessary inclusion. Another original tune that helps identify just who Lee Marcus is would have served him much better in the long run.
He then went out and got the best players possible to aid and abet his risky behavior.
Lee has all the ingredients for success, and his next effort will undoubtedly be even better than this one.
I AM going to keep Lee Marcus in my sights! He is only going to improve his abilities, and you can take that to the bank! I look forward to his next CD.
