On Friday, April 17th and Saturday, April 18th,
Yucca Valley’s Water Canyon Coffee Company presents “Call of the Sirens,” Women’s Night at Water Canyon, to support a special project for Morongo Basin Unity Home.

The special project is a compilation CD featuring local women artists titled, “The Women of Joshua Tree.” The CD will be produced and released by Joshua Tree’s Indie record label, New Moon Records, independent musician/arts advocate Barbara Buckland. CD sales proceeds will support Unity Home, a 501(c) 3 organization.

Buckland, who handles much of the entertainment scheduling
duties for the Water Canyon, was approached about creating a monthly music series featuring women artists. She had already been thinking of producing the compilation CD.

Buckland says, “ We had such a tremendous response from performers that two nights were needed to accommodate everyone. We have artists from Los Angeles joining us, and one from Seattle. I thought it
would be a wonderful opportunity to devote the first two nights of this monthly series to raising money and awareness for the project and Unity Home. It brings a real focus to the event. Unity Home and the artists are excited. I wanted to reach out with all the great, multi-genre talent available and help Unity Home at the same time.”

The mission of Unity Home, is “To provide a safe haven for victims of domestic violence, to educate and assist them through counseling, legal advocacy and building their self-esteem as to allow them to live their life free of the fear of abuse.”

A representative from Unity Home will speak on Saturday at 8PM and there will be a raffle featuring two boxed CD sets from Rhino Entertainment, a $50 certificate from Pappy and Harriet’s, and a beautiful
turquoise necklace donated by Unity Home. Raffle tickets sold both nights; winners do not need to be present to win.
