Borderline Featured by No Depression
How cool is this, our song “Borderline” has been featured in the No Depression player. Its a song about the plight of the displaced people of the American Borderline, as well as a reflection on all the problems with every Borderline.
The other big piece of news is.
Bob Harris to be The Old Grey Thistles Guest.
And the “Old Grey Thistles” in question are Glasgow band acoustic rockers Cousti, fronted by Grandfather of 12 Peter Lamb, Peter said “We couldn’t believe it when Bob agreed to be in our video, we’ve all been huge fans of his as long as we’ve been listening to music, he introduced us to our musical heroes, the likes of The Grateful Dead, The Band, Little Feat and Neil Young”
It all started when Cousti, along with the rest of the iconic broadcasters fans, were missing him a couple of years back when he was forced off the air due to Bob’s, ultimately successful, fight with prostrate cancer, the band decided to write a song in tribute to him called “Sweetest Tunes”, recorded it and sent the demo to Whispering Bob, within a week, they received an email from the great man, thanking them, and saying it arrived at a particularly low time and really lifted his spirits, Peter continues, “This was reward enough and exactly what we hoped would happen, but when later Bob received the completed CD earlier this year, and agreed to to be in the video”. we were over the moon”. Cousti will be releasing “Sweetest Tunes” for free download in celebration of Bob Harris’s 40th year in broadcasting. You can download and listen to it in advance here now above.
The new album by Cousti “Strings To Tracks” is being released on Pet Lamb Record on February 28th 2011 and the track “Sweetest Tunes” will be available to download free at www.cousti.com and will also be included in January’s R2 (issue 25) magazine, free CD cover collection. “Strings To Tracks” will be available in most high street retailers such as HMV etc through their distribution deal with Code 7 via Plastic-head Distribution (who also distributes online to the like of i-tunes, Amazon etc) and goes to adverts in January in Uncut, Q, The Word, Maverick, R2, Americana UK and Flyinshoes Review.
