    Most of the time, our Friday release day spotlight falls on artists who fit squarely within the scope of stereotypical “American roots music.” This week, we’re lifting up a handful of albums that deliver the unexpected. While North Carolina’s Chatham County Line are dropping a new disc that is solidly rootsy, it’s not their typical bluegrass fare. Angel Olsen reached pretty far outside the box this time too. And way over yonder, miles from that box, we find new music from the inimitable Daniel Lanois and Okkervil River. Put aside your expectations and you will find something to love here.
