Barton Carroll – “The Poor Boy Can’t Dance” EXCLUSIVE Video and MP3
Barton Carroll’s January 2010 Skybucket release is one of those albums that you can’t put down once you start playing it. I was a big fan of his last album, The Lost One, but IMHO this album is a huge step in the development of an artist that is truly a brilliant writer and under-appreciated lyricist.
The title track, The Poor Boy Can’t Dance is a charmer, and sets the stage for what’s in store for the rest of the record. The next song on the album, Rich As A Rolling Stone, contains one of my favorite recent lyrics: heard a voice but saw no face / in the dark she turned away / and whispered so quiet / of this you can believe / you were merely pain relief.
There are so many good songs on this record…that lyric is merely a sample :).
