Americana/Roots Music in Tampa
I’m pleased to see that several good Americana/roots shows are happening over the summer and into the fall in Tampa, and several of them are taking place at Skipper’s Smokehouse, a great Key West-style hang not far from USF.
I’m particularly looking forward to:
Cracker w/Gringo Star (Aug. 1)
and
the 4th annual WMNF Americana Fest (July 11) with Roppongi’s Ace (Tampa); Nine Volts (Cape Canaveral); Matt Butcher (Orlando); Mike Dunn & the Kings of New England (Winter Park); Black Finger (Lake Worth); Nervous Turkey (Tampa); Thomas Wynn & the Believers (Orlando); Have Gun Will Travel (Bradenton); Will Quinlan & the Diviners (Tampa); Ted Lukas & the Misled (Tampa); Blue Mountain (Oxford, MS)
Also hoping to check out Cyril Neville, this Saturday ( June 27).
PBS (Porter Batiste Stoltz) is headed to Ace’s Lounge in Bradenton on Friday, July 10
Avett Brothers are coming to the Cuban Club in Ybor on July 18.
Now if only that Son Volt tour would make its way to the Tampa Bay area.
Good festivals on the horizon:
Magfest (Live Oak), 10/22-25
Riverhawk (Brooksville), 11/8-11 (lineup)
