I wrote this song after reading John Steinbecks book The Grapes Of Wrath, about a family from Oklahoma heading West in The Great Depression. This book was written in the 30's, it could have been written yesterday!

Mr. Bell,

I made it home! HOOYAH! What a GREAT song and video to come home to. I am at my summer home located in Oklahoma at Lake Ft. Gibson - (outside of Wagoner, OK) Your music was carried with me while deployed. Also, I had requests for copies. I had no way of contacting you so those that requested, had to be content with listening to your music - when I did. Which, by the way; was at ANY opportunity that became available. I can't tell you how glad I am to find that you are still making YOUR music. I am still amazed that you are not touring the WORLD!

This song has a different feel, a sense of urgency and danger. I like it very much. I see that you posted it on 31 July, 2010. At that time I was working in the Baghran District of Helmand Province, Afghanistan. I would have loved to have had this tune with me!

Also; thought you might be interested in this - I played your music to MANY, MANY Afghans (good guys) and they seemed to enjoy it very much. There was one Afghan Special Operator that just could not get enough of the song; "Hour of Need."(My favorite as well) He is a musician and songwriter and he would come sit with me when we had down time, as I listened to music. One day he came to my hooch with guitar in hand. He said, in VERY broken English; "Sir Master Chief, I have learned the song of your friend. Please care to listen." He played his interpretation of your song, sang in perfect English and it just blew me away! I filmed him with my DVR camera, which I hope to God the NIS will release to me intact. If so, I will get you a copy.

Your Friend,
Gunner

PS DAMN! I had to play "Hour of Need" while finishing this post. Jeff, sir; that is one of the BEST SONGS I have ever heard - IN MY LIFE! HOOYAH!
