Thank you, Dennis, for your kind words and for taking the time to read my posts. I agree with you about Steve Goodman's guitar playing. He was excellent. Most memorable for me was at The Troubadour in '73. He played solo opening for Maria Muldar. He was energetic and inspired. I love the Cash quote from Jim.
Thanks Terry for posting these performances by two great artists who also happened to be good friends. I also think it is evidence for my response to a posting about the best Americana guitarists in which I suggested Steve Goodman but no one seemed to agree. I also wanted to tell you I really enjoy all your postings and think you're a really knowledgeable and excellent writer. Keep up the good work.
I love John Prine. I miss those days but I'm sure there are more to come.
Great post Terry...Prine and Goodman together...fantastic...Goodman by himself...wonderful...as Johnny Cash once said of Goodman's ability to work an audience, "if Steve can't get 'em, they can't be got". I still miss that guy...I still remember seeing him doing "The 20th Century is Almost Over" on Midnight Special...he was just testifying at the end of it...Red Pajama has really preserved a lot of his catalog and live perfomances, thankfully...andPrine might be the most underrated songwriter of our time...
thanks for the great video...
