With all the attention the media is giving to this Saturday's "Judgment Day," I figured I'd take the opportunity to compile a few of my favorite 'songs of Armageddon.' Some of these are more serious than others, but I wanted to include some variety. They are not in any special order (numbers just help keep it tidy). Feel free to leave comments letting me know what your list would include.

1 The Future - Leonard Cohen
2 Eve of Destruction - Bobby McGuire
3 1999 - Prince
4 It's the End of the World As We Know It - R.E.M
5 The End of the World - Skeeter Davis
6 Great Atomic Power - Louvin Brothers
7 All Along the Watchtower - Bob Dylan
8 Earth Died Screaming - Tom Waits
9 The Great Judgment Morning - Hank Williams
10 Gimme Shelter - Rolling Stones

Great list! How about "Waiting for the End of the World," Elvis Costello...

That's an awesome movie, by the way, Kim!

If the Rapture doesn't happen, here's a great excuse for the believers:

Kim - that was #8 on my list!  I had to include a Waits track.  Between him, Dylan and Hank Sr I could have done a list twice as long with just them.

How about this one?

I'm a big fan of Kinky Friedman and this one is perfect for the rapture.
Then of course, if your in escape mood Neil Young's After the Gold Rush paints the picture; but it is hard to beat three angels singing you to heaven or elsewhere.
If you're really optimistic, go to the Spirit in the Sky with Norman Greenbaum.  There are lots of uploads on youtube.  I figured the nostalgia of an uneven turntable was the way to remember good times past that will not return.
