Steve Earle Tour With the Dukes (and Duchesses) Announced

Details regarding Steve Earle’s summer tour were announced on his website today, and the West gets the best of this deal, at least initially.

Touring in support of his new studio record (to be released April 26) and debut novel, I'll Never Get Out Of This World Alive, Earle, one of my favorite musicians, will be accompanied by his electric live band, The Dukes (and Duchesses), featuring his wife Allison Moorer, another personal fave who is blessed with one of the best voices in the country/folk/rock genre.

The tour will start June 9 in Seattle and includes stops in the Pacific Northwest, Montana, Idaho, Canada and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Colorado before moving on to Arizona, down South and throughout the rest of the country.

Complete venue and ticket information can also be found on his tour page, but all the dates currently listed are provided below.

Earle also returns for the 11-episode second season of HBO’s Treme that begins April 24. The Emmy-nominated series focuses on musicians in New Orleans and how they are coping in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. In the series, he plays street musician Harley Watt, who continues to serve as a mentor to fiddler Annie Tee, played by Lucia Micarelli.

Must be the Birchmere on August 13 and 14!  Well, all right!

The Birchmere it is, Jack. And Eddie, I'm bummed there are no more Colorado appearances than the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, which also includes Sarah McLachlan on the bill that opening night. Telluride’s full lineup can be found here.

His site says more to be confirmed.  My guess is he will add some California dates... and he is always at Hardly Strictly.

Heads up! For anyone in the Denver area, Steve is doing an in-store at Twist & Shout on May 5th. Check out the T&S website for more info.

OK, and next EUROPE!

I have to comment on those Birchmere dates.  He is finally touring with a band and now plays exclusively seated venues?  I'm very sad that's not The State Theatre or the 9:30 Club.

Comment by Jack Williams on April 13, 2011 at 10:05am
@Katrina:  Yes, I was surprised that they weren't playing the 9:30 club, as that's where I saw him the last time he came through with a band.  I have a feeling my back will thank me, though.

Will the Dukes include Roscoe this time?
