Singer-songwriter Tim Krekel has passed away

Just received the following in an email:

Tim Krekel, one of America's finest songwriters has died today. The world is a sadder place. Tim's music was recorded by Delbert McClinton, Kim Ritchie, Alan Jackson and many, many more. He played lead guitar w/Jimmy Buffet back in the day.

Krekel had a tumor removed from his stomach this spring, and a note from his website, posted today reads:

Tim Krekel's health has taken a drastic turn for the worse these last few weeks. Tim is now at the final stages of what he described to me as, "A most wonderful life!" Now, at home under the care of his loving family and hospice, Tim is moving steadily toward the most glorious adventure we all will ever face. Love and last goodbyes have been shared and soon he will be a whole part of the Love he's told us about throughout his entire life. God Bless Tim Krekel. Pray for us who will be left behind.

This is such a sad loss. Our hearts go out to Tim's loved ones.

Sad news. A major talent. Check out Happy Town if you haven't heard it.

As I had just begun to appreciate his music when I picked up the CD "Soul Season" I could not believe what a talent that man had with words, That CD made me smile everytime I played it. May you rest in peace and hopefully get buried next to Wilson Pickett in your own backyard.

"World Keeps Turnin'" is a brilliant album, and Tim continues to shine a brilliant light. Blessed to know him and his music.
