Hi Kevin- Thanks for posting this and including the video. I keep seeing mentions of Danny on this site and hadn't ever heard of him so it was great to learn more and get a nice sampling of his music! He sounds great. I need to dig deeper now.

Good call, Kevin. Danny's been due wider attention for some time. The quintessential emergent singer-songwriter, his vivid streaming images can at times threaten to overwhelm. On this new album, the production strikes a careful balance - delivering tasty instrumental and vocal support whose harmony and rhythm illuminates rather than detracts, yet also offerring singer and audience that breathing space - sometimes the confectionary hook - necessary to fully savor each line. There are wonders in his back catalog - Parables and Primes is a personal favorite - but this new one seems the ideal introduction to Schmidt's luminous dreamscape.

I ran into Danny at Folk Alliance last year and was puzzled as to why he wasn't yet better known. Apparently, that's the same time Red House saw him and decided they'd like to work with him So it was nice to see him sign to Red House and even better to finally get this disc! It's such a good record, and hopefully more people will pay attention to him this time around. Little Grey Sheep was way too overlooked.

danny schmidt is awesome....check out "These Ain't Tynan's Blues", gives me chills everytime
