Kevin Breit & The Upper York Mandolin Orchestra New CD Field Recording

Kevin Breit is without a doubt one of North America’s most enigmatic and multifaceted guitarists.  Considered a “guitarist’s guitarist”, Breit  has recorded with Norah Jones, Rosanne Cash,  k.d. Lang, Hugh Laurie, Holly Cole, Amos Lee, Jane Siberry, Molly Johnson, Serena Ryder, Natalie McMaster, Jane Bunnett, and many others.

Breit’s extensive career as an in demand guitarist has seen him garner multiple awards and accolades - he has performed on recordings that have earned ten Grammy Awards.

Breit is a member of the popular all male quartet, Sisters Euclid. Their brilliant disc, Run Neil Run, was received a Juno Award for best instrumental recording in 2006. With the Sisters Euclid, he has recorded ten albums, and received a Juno Award for the Run Neil Run recording. They have performed throughout Canada and Europe several times. Several of the group’s compositions have been featured in movies, television and radio programs.  In 2009, they were presented with the award for Electric Jazz Group of the Year from the National Jazz Awards. Kevin has recorded three albums with Harry Manx, and was awarded the Maple Blues Award for Acoustic Act of the Year in 2007.

Breit’s trio, Folkalarm, has recorded five CD’s and toured throughout Canada. He has recorded three solo discs for his label, Poverty Playlist. His group, the Stretch Orchestra, was awarded a Juno for Best Instrumental Recording in 2012.

Always on the lookout for new musical adventures, Kevin Breit has partnered with the Upper York Mandolin Orchestra to release this collection of 11 brilliant originals.  Field Recording showcases Breit’s adept skills on the mandolin and vocals as well as masterful, thought provoking and sometimes quirky lyrics.

Thanks for posting.  I wasn't familiar with Kevin but the album sounds great.  Reminds me of Elvis Costello a bit.
