Handicapping Hardly Strictly Bluegrass 2010

The good folks at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass are delaying the official lineup announcement this year. This is probably in hopes of keeping massive crowds at bay. But gleaning sources internal and external has revealed some tantalizing confirmed artists. This years lineup will contain the reggies, Emmylou, Steve Earle, Del McCoury, Hazel Dickens, and Earl Scruggs.

New and exciting additions this year include David Grisman Quintet, Sharon Jones and Dapp Kings, Justin Townes Earle, Carolina Chocolate Drops, Patti Smith, Avett Brothers, Lucero, Felice Brothers, Peter Himmelman, and Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue. Many more to come!

Jerry Douglas has posted that he will perform with Viktor Krauss and Omar Hakim in a reprise of the ecstatically received Telluride Festival set.

Speedway Meadows is looking mighty fine in early October.

The best Americana festival going, and it's just down the street from me. Can't wait to attend my third! I'd like to see Mr. Hellman include more local roots and Americana talent on the roster this year as well as the big names.

Kelly Willis has "tweeted" that she'll be at Hardly Strictly this year. And Rosanne Cash's photo is included on the Hardly Strictly website (along with Del McCourey, Hazel Dickens, Earl Scruggs, Carolina Chocolate Drops and Justin Townes Earle), so I think it's safe to assume that she'll be there, also.
