C-Leb and the Kettle Black
Raw and Rockin’ right out of the gate! The self titled debut from Seattle’s C-LEB and the Kettle Black reaches right out of the speakers for your throat. Front man C-Leb is a force to be reckoned with on earth shaking bass, searing vocals reminiscent of a southern fried Chris Cornel and honky tonk harmonica. His comrades in arms ,Jesse “Hound-Dawg” Strasbaughon on mean slide guitar and madman drummer Jazz Turnbow, and synth sounds from Nate Johnston help create a high bred sound that has been coined “Urban Blues.” The mixture of NW grunge, drum n bass grooves, southern rock foot stompers and pure energy is fresh and infectious.
C-Leb doesn’t mince words as he exercises some personal demons of the struggles of a custody battle on stand out tracks “Another Man’s Son,” and fighting the IRS on “Hell Don’t Pay Taxes,” surely many of us can identify with them both. They give us a barn burning sing along on “Hott Mess,” and a raise up your lighter worthy ballad “The Way IT Goes.” A strong self title debut from a band we are sure to hear more about soon.
