Blues for Michael B... For Michael Bloomfield

Blues for Michael B...

He was the best,  from east to west

You shoulda heard the way,  he could live them blues

Y'all shoulda heard the way, that man could live them blues

He was born to win, you know he just had to loose

No time to save,  only time to waste

It's so hard to quit, once ya got that taste

It's so damn hard to quit, once you got that taste

An I'm gonna miss, the way that man could play

If you caught a lick,  it would take you home

He would start to sway and commence to moan

If ya caught a lick, that man could take you home

I hate to think,  he was left to die,  alone

A mighty angel,  sent to walk the land

While on this earth,  he was a troubled man

A mighty angel,  made to walk the land

Now he has a place,  up in that fiery band

An he was the best,  from east to west

You shoulda heard the way,  that man could live them blues

Y'all shoulda heard the way,  Michael played the blues

He was born to win,  you know he just had to loose

He was born to win, you know, he just had to loose...

For my friend Michael Bloomfield who I first met at just barely 16...

I wrote this on piano a simple shuffle in C...on the pre WWII Steinways at Bard College, just after Michael's passing.  I  had just seen him a few months before...at The Lonestar Cafe...he remembered me immediately though it had been sometime as he was always on the west coast...
