Live Music -Touring Bands:

Saw lots of local bands but pretty lean for me for touring bands in 2012. What I saw mostly came from two festivals: Wintergrass and Bumbershoot, and the Last Summer On Earth Tour at Marymoor Park. Somehow I managed to miss The Beach Boys reunion show and The Wall, a couple things I would have liked to see. But basically, it came down to "yeah, seen them." Some good stuff last night and some crap, like the first-time outdoor dance/ electronica portion.  I wonder what the people inside Staples did when it was on.   At least  it was outside, but it's just a matter of time before it's main stage, encroaching on rock, and hopefully rap, which there seems to be less of in recent years.

Didn't buy any CDs released in 2010 by any national acts.  Too much free or discounted music around.  Bought a few at shows by locals as support.  I do like some new releases, like Band Of Horses', Local Natives', Mumford & Sons', Beach House's and Black Keys' for instance.  You can listen to those and others in Spinner's Top 30 here.

Parsons birthday. He would have been 64.



Organized by multi-instrumentalist and singer, Country Dave Harmonson, who has and does play in several bands, including Stampede Pass of yore andd Zoe Muth of now.



What a great night of country-rock played by more than a dozen top notch area country, Americana and rock musicians, including Gaye Winsor, formerly of the Sky Boys, singing Emmylou parts.
