Steve at Telluride #9: Byrne, Baby, Byrne

David Byrne justed ended here in Telluride. An amazing show--a full report coming in the morning--but suffice to say that he had the place on absolute fire with one of the most fun shows in the festival's history. I'm wiped out! So...I'll tell you about this show tomorrow morning when I check in. Good night from Telluride.

Telluride Siblings

It has occurred to me that there are a number of notable siblings appearing at this years Telluride Bluegrass Festival -

Alison Krauss (AKUS) & Viktor Krauss (Lyle Lovett)

Ronnie McCoury & Rob McCoury (Del McCoury Band)

Martie Maguire & Emily Robison (Court Yard Hounds)

Tim Hanseroth & Phil Hanseroth (Brandi Carlile)

Does anyone know of any others? (I don't think the Punch Brothers qualify)

Sunday Morning at Telluride

Good morning from lovely Telluride, Colorado. This marks the last day of the festival. Usually, the Sunday morning acts are a real treat. Mike Farris and the Roseland Rhythm Revue is just taking the stage.

I ran tarp again this morning for our group- no incidents or accidents, hints or allegations.

Gonna go catch this set.

Happy Father's Day.

Telluride Audio Stream on KOTO

T-Ride's wonderful community radio station KOTO is streaming much of the bluegrass festival through Sunday.  While not all performers opt to stream, a great many do and fine San Juan ear candy is guaranteed.  Their regular programming is most interesting as well.

Thanks to these kind radio folks and the great staff at Planet Bluegrass!

Steve in Telluride #1: Touchdown!

Hello from Telluride! I’m Steve, and I’ll be blogging live from the Telluride Bluegrass Festival for the next four days. My brother, Shane, and I arrived in town this afternoon, via St. Louis, MO, and Columbus, OH, respectively, and have now set up shop in the Warner Campground adjacent to the festival grounds.

Telluride is, although I’ve been here many times, even more gorgeous than I remember—we could see three waterfalls as we… Continue

Favorite Things about Telluride (contest)

Going to the Telluride Bluegrass Festival is one of the highlights of my summer. I like to call it “summer camp for grown-ups” (and kids of course!). There’s great food, people, lots of things to do, and of course great music. Here’s a few of my personal favorite things about TBF.

Music: The music is amazing. There’s a great variety of bands – enough that it’s hard to pick when to take a break and head back to camp. If you camp in Town Park, you can still hear the music in camp.… Continue
