The Best Two Weeks To Be In The Highlands

The Tour De France (Bah!! I scoff  in a joke French sort of way ) Here some real endurance "The Tour De Highlands"

The Tartan Heart Fringe starts with our annual Charity Bar Bee Q this weekend at the Maple Court Hotel and The Wild West Fest at Bogbain, we have the charity show extending into Forres this year in the evening of the 30th with 15 acts playing all in the one day in aid of Downs Children Scotland. There are shows at Ceol Mor Inverness all over the weekend (and following week) giving a real West End Festival feel this year with The Bar Bee Q at the heart of that . The Hard Travelling Dave Sharp starts his Belladrum Tartan Heart Fringe adventure as our focus Highland Tour. We have Coffee Shop sessions both in Strathpeffer on Monday and on the Potting Shed Stage at Bella on the following Thursday,  Blues Men on Scoraig, Grass Roots at Hoots and Hot House at Hoots In the city center.

IE Gigs and concerts from Ullapool to Perth + don't forget the crowning glory show, standing out like a beacon, Dunnet Head Light House (sq oos my little beacon type joke there)  on the most northerly point of mainland Scotland with a world class Blue Grass Band "Present Company" and the afore mentioned "Dave Sharp", all are welcome Present Company included (another little joke  you'll notice ) enough for the truly dedicated extreme music fan to exercise their ear drum getting around, and then there is Belladrum, you'll find what's left of me on The Potting Shed Stage all weekend!

We thanks our non-corporate sponsors and good fiends to music, Square Wheels Cycles of Strathpeffer and The Black Isle Brewery, see you on the road or at The Potting Shed Stage at Belladrum its self.

Our climax act of the first day at Belladrum 2011 - Rob Ellen says

"On a weekend that does seem to have a strong nostalgic pull, personally I am delighted to host and welcome, two of my favourite all time musicians Champion Doug Veitch and Rise Kagona. The Doug Veitch self styled Cajun king of Caledonian swing of my youth, introduced me through his numerous John Peel Sessions to a world of exotic styles of roots music forms in one glorious band, he is a true pioneer of the genre that went on to be called "World Music". It was he who first went to Zimbabwe and discovered The Bhundu Boys took them to The UK, released their first album, resulting in the gates of African music opening to the other continents of the globe, and the rest is now music history. Rise Kagona is a founder of said African giants and a Guitar Hero, who's style of playing founded a whole genre "Harare Jit" now living in Scotland and playing with his old friend in this extra-ordinary combo.
