50 favorites ?....the pond is definitely shallower than it use to be..Personally I wouldn`t be able to come up with 50  if I added the last three years together. However this is nothing that another Dave Alvin or Tom Russell concert won`t fix.

peterboro is not far from where i live. It can boast  a very much alive music scene , the residents are very supportive of any and all acts that come through the area. Peterboro is a wonderful town , always felt like it was my music secret.

I'm about your age, so it's from an older point of view...I was lucky enough to be raised without bias, racism, etc, so I never thought of The Band as being anything but a band, and one hell of one...I don't get the whole hate thing of Robbie, I kind of understand, but that's somebody else's fight, not mine.  They are a sum of their parts creating music, my fav's were Richard, Garth and Rick Danko (from whom I have an autographed Pic from a show before he passed).  I thought they were the heart and soul of the group, not that Levon and Robbie were slouches, but they just seemed to get it more than the other two...anyway, out of time right now, I'll catch up with you later, Hank

Sluggo,  it's just my opinion.  But when I listen to The Band, Levon's voice is the thing that feels legitimately country about it.   The Band worked all together as a unit and wrote some of the best songs in their era, and they were fabulous musicians.  But to my ear, if Levon's southern twanged voice wasn't in the mix, it wouldn't have been the same.  For me when I was young, my Dad listened to country and I listened to rock and The Band was a group that bridged that gap for me.   So yes, in my mind, Levon was and is who I think of first when someone mentions The Band.   I hope that is okay with you.  Please let me know if my opinion is not acceptable.  Thanks.

Hey Sluggo,

I have a Haitian long time friend and brother here and besides writing up stuff for an upcoming screenplay from notes I'm taking from a book, I turned him onto my latest episode from the Playing for Change people. You hip to them? If not I will fix you right up. It is top flight music and musicians, often roots music, from all over the world sometimes woven into the same cut by ingenious use of sound recording and video recording devices and time and passion by some great people. The purpose is to stop war and racism in the world through music and any money raised goes for music schools for children in the third world countries. If you already know about them, let's talk. If not, let's talk. Also do you listen to WWOZ 90.7fm from New Orleans, run on public funding and the whole thing done by volunteers and all about New Orleans. Music goes 24/7 of every conceivable variety from the Crescent City and the bayous and beyond. Caution: it'll make you instantly hungry for a po'boy. Thanks for the invite.

Hey Sluggo, thanks for the invite. I just posted something there you might be interested in. Meanwhile I'm looking up Oshawa Ontario Canada on the map to see proximity to Underhill Center VT where I was raised til five. Not sure how to invite you my way. It's surprising how difficult the easiest and clearest instructions can be when you're brain cloudy.

Thanks for the comment and the add Sluggo. Yeah, we're looking forward to having some art by Sandy so everyone can take a look. We will post it when it's time to be released...maybe within a month. We're looking forward to letting everyone hear the new CD---may even give away a few copies to those on NoDepression.com (like we did with our first EP). Stay in touch and thanks for the support.
