Not understanding Gram´s contribution to country music is not being a real fan of country music. You like other stuff but not REAL country music. True spirit of country music lies in Gram´s music attitude, returns to his song and create…

I have been ask me about this everytime I play Six Days on The Road. Only Chris is well focussed. This is the way a backing roookie band is shoted, but Burritos was not a backing band. Good comment Michie, you suggested the answer, for me it was not…

The Calgary Folk Festival features Ian Tyson

"Four strong winds that blow lonely..." Any Americana Music follower should know this song. I can remember first time I saw The Last Waltz movie being a 15 years old spanish boy who went to a cinema in search of a Bob Dylan recorded gig.

Obviously I liked Dylan appearances and Clapton virtuosism, but what most impressed me were the two songs of Neil Young with The Band. I became a fan and still keeping on it. One of the tracks was Ian Tyson "Four Strong Winds".

Later, while I walked… Continue

A Guitar Legend Came to Town: Dick Dale at the Acapulco Venue (April 9th).

Maybe because Gijón is a Surf City with a long surf beach at his heart, probably too there are many guitar lovers (Xixón Sound) - and surely both reasons -, Acapulco Venue had a sold out tickets gig last Friday even though the artist was not very famous outside of connoisseurs gangs.

This was clearly proof till the beginning of the show. Just the fourth song and the partners were completely… Continue

Me, Evangeline and Old Nº 7. The Origins of Rodeo

It is commonly accepted that the word Rodeo is a Spanish word. It´s true but is not a Spanish original, it came from Asturian language verb “arrodiar” which literally means to round and catch cows or bulls in open field with the “lazu”. Asturian “Vaqueiros” (cowboys literally translated) and Cantabrian “Pasiegos” were specialized on moving great cow herds from the plain prairies on winter to higher grazing on summer. This culture starts on the epipaleolithic period and subsist… Continue

Me, Evangeline and Old No 7

Many starved families are roaming Gijón downtown these days. They went here looking for the euro paradise and now things are going bad. I saw a sweet face this morning when I returned home from the courthouse. I was thinking in such a stupid thing like the moment when the last trial woud become a bank income, when she ran into me for a dime, you know friends. Her face, her childish laughter, the inmaculate bright of her pale blue eyes in a bronze skin with a long dark hair. How she called me:… Continue
