Here I am!

G'day y'all,

In essence, I am a fan! I love music, personally, my favorite genres are Country and Rock, though I don't mind a bit of Blues and Folk every now and then.

I will be spreading the good word about Australian Country Music (albeit underground) and Indie Rock with its roots steeped in Country. So keep checking in for all the latest news and reviews on good Australian organic dirt music coming your way!

Now, a little about the Author... I grew up on a diet of Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Hank Williams, Tom Petty, Warren Zevon, Tom Waits, Steve Earle and The Clash. I'm a singer/songwriter that plays guitar, bass and percussion. I have a Diploma in Music Business that I studied for at the Contemporary Music Center in Western Sydney, I graduated top of my class with Distinctions and was presented with the Outstanding Academic Achievement award.

But like I said, "I'm A Fan!" My favorite bands/artists at the moment are:
(Australian) Tex Perkins, Nick Cave, You Am I, Perry Keyes, Wagons, The Audreys, The Re-Mains, The Wildes, Halfway, Mexico City, Chucks Wagon, Dave Garner, Dear Orphans, Anne McCue, The Waifs, The Flood, Nici Blue Eyes and there are so many more Aussie artists to mention, but I'm afraid I'll run out of room.

(International) Johnny Cash (as always), Tom Petty, Kane Welch Kaplin, Drive-By Truckers, Neil Young, Tom Waits, Old Crow Medicine Show, Felice Brothers, Justin Townes Earle, Elliott Brood, Hank III, Wilco, Ryan Adams, Neko Case, Gillian Welch, Waco Brothers (Jon Langford), Jason Isbell, The Reverend Horton Heat, Southern Culture On The Skids, Th' Legendary Shack Shakers and the list goes on.

Till next time... leave a little dirt on!

Justin Townes Earle and Wagons at The Clarendon Guest House Katoomba NSW Australia October 7

As we pulled up outside The Clarendon, the sleet was falling and all I could think was thank God I brought my big black jacket! Let’s face it, Katoomba = COLD! There’s no denying that fact!

Justin Townes Earle is no show pony that's for certain, he's a work horse… having played over 250 shows in the last 12 months is confirmation of that! His guitar playing is phenomenal and I’m not just throwing the word out there willy nilly… I… Continue

The Wildes - Ballad Of A Young Married Man

Who doesn’t love a Murder Ballad? I can’t get enough of ‘em… and The Wildes open a pearler in the form of the title track from their stunning debut “Ballad Of A Young Married Man”! The song tells the tale of a cheating heart and the consequences of following its unrighteous path, in this case, “a bullet in the chest” and all this is told from beyond the grave. And this sets the scene is set for the rest of the album.

The Wildes are a 4 piece… Continue

Chuck’s Wagon Lipstick and Sin album launch at The Bald Faced Stag, Leichhardt, NSW, Australia – August 28, 2009.

With influences like Townes Van Zandt, Johnny Cash, Steve Earle and Neil Young, Chuck’s Wagon have a unique yet familiar sound that welcomes you with open arms while simultaneously making the hair stand up on the back of your neck. If you can imagine Tex/Mex BBQ with Roo meat on the menu all washed down with good Australian beer, then you’ll have an idea of the feeling that Chuck’s Wagon give their audience.

Well, we didn’t have to… Continue
