I love the Beatles cover, but it's all good.  Seen them live at the Four Corners Folk Fest/Pagosa Folk & Bluegrass Fest for the last three years.  One of the seminal groups in what Peter Blackstock identified as The New…

Great review.  Saw them last summer at Rocky Grass.  I meant to comment on your review a while back on Eli West and Cahalen Morreson.  These bands are exactly alike, only completely different, which is my default description of all of…

That would be Sgt Barry Sadler, Balled of the Green Berets.   I remember hearing it in rotation with Bobby Darin's Mack the Knife, The Kingston Trio's Tom Dooley,  the Coasters, and a bunch o' girl groups.  That…

RE: the absence of Jim Messina While I loved what he and Richie went on to do with Poco and liked what he did with Loggins and Messina, his contributions to Buffalo Springfield were as a producer and fill-in bass player. He didn't play any…

Great piece on a very under-sung artist. Folks should check out the last project Stephen worked on: Geoff Muldaur's Texas Shieks. Two of Stephen's best producing efforts were Geoff's albums Password and Secret Handshake. Also, try…

Thanks for the Chess Records street number ... I was too lazy to find my CD ... often have trouble remembering numbers in songs ... the Wilson Pickett one with a phone number title ... I even sang it for a number of years in the 80s and I think I wrote it out on my wrist ... is it 654-3789???

Yes, I agree and Rawlins is a phenom, I also knew how great their influence was when Emmy Lou Harris recorded orphan Girl. Her taste in songs being exquisite. What amazes me is that it is a sound that you think is from the past yet their really wasn't anything exactly like it. Kinda a folk\gospel\bluegrass\country music. Thanks for the feedback.....dc
