What about the absolutely awesome CLEM SNIDE???? I saw them at St Bonaventures in Bristol a couple of years back and they are stunning live plus their body of work is fabulous....check them out!

That's a great list though I don't think I'd be able to restrict myself to 10.......I'd need room for Sparklehorse, Josh Rouse, Neil Young, Ryan Adams, Kathleen Edwards and Elvis Costello.
