I've had the import of this for a few months. May has a fantastic voice, and her contribution to Jeff Beck's Les Paul tribute were a highlight of that album and video. So I was really looking forward to Mayhem.   But somehow, and…

Such sad news. A master musician.  In addition to his recordings with Monroe, Baker's solo albums for County Records belong in every bluegrass collection.

Thanks for sharing this, Paul.  Seemingly almost forgotten, there was a time when Gold seemed like a major talent who was destined for solo success. I remember being impressed by his first solo album at the time it was released, and he…

NEW JIM FORD RELEASES

To call Jim Ford obscure is something of an understatement. He wrote a couple of songs that were hits for other artists, like Niki Hoeky (P.J. Proby) and Harry Hippy (Bobby Womack), and also wrote some amazing songs that were recorded by other artists in the Seventies like Ju Ju Man (Dave Edmunds) and 36 Inches High (Nick Lowe). But his own recording career never really got off the ground. His first album, Harlan County (1969), was something of a lost classic, an astonishing and original… Continue

Thanks for the welcome! I don't find much going on in Greensboro, but I've only lived here a few months. I used to live in Boone, where I could easily go to Merlefest every year I wanted to. Thanks again. I'm still learning the site.

Hi Ron, No not playing there this year. Have been working on CD and finishing building studio. It's slowed down performing a good bit... for a good bit. Band name (other than name) depends on who is playing lol.... But close - maybe - to mostly finalizing that, along with cyber cd and real cd. Can be a bit nippy... or wet.. I/we'll post info as copyright and more finished versions are put online though. starting with sonicbids electronic press kit. Lots of irons in fire... writing, rewriting, recording, pre-marketing, etc but some good songs I think -and am told. May put up cpl of early versions for some feedback soon. Good to hear from you. Been up all nigght playin' and am falling over - more later. Billy
