I guess to each is own but I loved this song when it was released.   It's definitely dated now but I think it's a really good song. Saw Rush perform the song at The Spectrum in Philadelphia with Aimee on the video screen singing…

Courtney thanks for your post.  I saw Townes a few times in Arlington, Texas.  I relate to what Townes and you went through.  I have recovered and so have you!  This is very refreshing to hear.  Obviously Recovery Works!

Wilco

I have just watched a documentary on IFC about Wilco. This was my first exposure to this wonderful band. Did anyone else watch? This band is one of the most creative I have run across in a long time.

B.W. Stevenson

B.W Stevenson has been one of Texas greatest songwriters that has been forgotten. One of the most memorable B.W.Stevenson moments for me was introducing him at Poor Davids Pub in Dallas on his 36th birthday. Do you have a memorable moment that you had with Buck? Please share.

Hey Rick,

I'm a huge Tom Waits fan too.  Love Leonard Cohen as well.  Great writers indeed.

"If I were to trace the genealogy of the country music Outlaw, it would start with Bobby Bare, roll through Willie & Waylon and that whole gang, follow Cash through the late 90′s, and end up in the country music underground with people like Peewee Moore as possibly the perfect example of the Outlaw lineage in the present day"

Hi Rick,

Hope you took my "me neither" comment re Sting as tongue in cheek. I've enjoyed a solo song or two by him, but generally find his music really uninteresting, which is kind of ironic because he usually employs top notch musicians. As for Bono, I like U2 and to my ear generally his vocals are well done for their sound, but he has a tendency toward vocal histrionics and there's seldom anything subtle about him, or the band for that matter. As for the theme of the discussion, 5 artists who can do no wrong, I'm not sure I can think of anyone. Sustained creativity is difficult to achieve and even my very favorite musicans have ebb and flow in their careers, maybe within a single recording or maybe over a series of recordings, but not everything can be first rate, especially for artists willing to experiment and stretch. It's been an interesting discussion to follow nonetheless. Different strokes...

Best,

Jack
