@Marshall- I was negligent in not saying thanks for the info from TechCrunch. So, thanks!

PLMelton commented on Larry Karnowski's blog post 'Rdio Is Better Than Spotify'
I can appreciate that not everyone is an audiophile, and with some people the experience of fiddling with gear can seem to supersede the experience of listening to the music. However, Henry Rollins recently wrote a piece for Stereophile magazine…

PLMelton commented on Larry Karnowski's blog post 'Rdio Is Better Than Spotify'
One of the reasons Apple is proprietary and closed regarding their software and services is because it takes a hell of a lot of time and effort to develop those things. In the business where I work, we sell home automation systems and have been…

PLMelton commented on Larry Karnowski's blog post 'Rdio Is Better Than Spotify'
It's a little presumptuous to use a term like "better" to describe Rdio over Spotify, when Rdio so  far declines to specify bit rate or codec information beyond: "We experiment with different rates and encoding formats in an…

PLMelton commented on Grant Alden's blog post 'Who has time for all this garbage?'
The points about music bring increasingly less accessible is ludicrous. In the late 70s, two books that got me into exploring a wide range of music and artists were the original Rolling Stone Record Guide that Dave Marsh edited, and the book…

PLMelton commented on Grant Alden's blog post 'Who has time for all this garbage?'
This Luddite rant reminds me of the kind of stuff Steve Allen and his ilk used to say about rock and roll.

PLMelton commented on JeffK's blog post 'The Lost Music of Marty Brown'
Good to see this appreciation of Marty Brown and to know there are others who like his music. When his early albums were released, I was managing a Record Bar store in Raleigh, and had the opportunity to hand sell numerous copies of High and Dry to…

PLMelton commented on Linda Ray's blog post 'Tucson Plus Two Months: A Concert for Civility, Respect and Understanding'
Bumper sticker stripping notwithstanding, the message of this show would now be better directed at the unions and their supporters in Wisconsin than at the residents of Tucson.

PLMelton commented on Adam Sheets's blog post 'Review: Gil Scott-Heron- I'm New Here'
I saw him open for Stevie Wonder on that tour as well, and he was one of most excruciating opening acts I ever suffered through. It seemed like that night's rendition of "Johannesburg" went on for 45 minutes. I'm sure he's…

Not sure if Maurice White is still touring with the group-I think health issues prevented him from doing so for awhile. As long as Philip Bailey is with EWF I think the show would likely be worthwhile.

Good point about Thompkins' singing. The Four Tops with only Duke Fakir is, as C.S. Lewis would have said, small beer indeed. Levi Stubbs is irreplaceable.

PLMelton commented on Ken Carter's blog post 'cheney, obama and the bi-polar nature of our politics'
"At times, we have the good fortune of having a leader who stands at the center of power and speaks the truth. " Unfortunately, in the United States we've replaced a clueless Republican with an equally clueless Democrat.

"Comment by Linda Ray 32 minutes ago: Reunions we could probably do without: Styx, REO Speedwagon and Earth, Wind and Fire? " Don't embarrass yourself by lumping Earth Wind and Fire with Styx and REO Speedwagon. EWF made some of the…

I couldn't disagree more about the Springsteen and U2 albums. While Working on a Dream didn't have the immediate impact on me that Magic did, I love the varied styles and the way Springsteen has finally allowed some of his musical sunshine…

The eagerly anticipated digital release of Kirsten DeHaan’s EP “Thorns On A Crown” is right around the corner. On Tuesday October 6, the new and highly acclaimed alternative rock singer and songwriter’s songs can be purchased at major online retailers such as iTunes, Amazon.com, Napster, and EMusic. Kirsten has developed quite a following in a relatively short period of time, because of the uniqueness of her voice and style, which has been compared to the sweetness of Liz Phair, a soft, airy quality like that of Sia, and the rich alto of Fiona Apple.

In the meantime, register and download her single "1984" for free at HYPERLINK "http://kdlocal.com" http://kdlocal.com
