Under-appreciated, but not by me

Wrote this in answer to a ND friend's inquery, but worth sharing perhaps:

Top three current singer-songwriters I don't think get their due: A.A. Bondy, who might top the list; soulful, beautiful Antje Duvekot; and master guitarist with a keen, original wit, Peter Mulvey. Bob Schneider is another one who shoots quiet arrows to the heart, if I get a bonus pick.

I can't get enough of Todd Snider or Hayes Carll either, but they are thankfully not under-appreciated these days!… Continue

Couple of people I've found fairly recently that I like a lot include Amanda Shires and Zoe Muth. Still ploughing my way through the recent arrivals ... new John Doe and Jill Sobule is rather special.

Hi Oriana,

I found The Iguanas on your ND page. Nice.

Who are your top three under-appreciated, under-recognized, masterful-lyricist, captivating-vocalist singer/songwriters?

Assuming Bondy is one of them, which assumes I am correct that he's not widely recognized for the talent he is, my other two are:

1. Eliza Gilkyson
2. Beaver Nelson

Thanks.

Hi Oriana,
Not sure exactly what it means to be befriended on ND, but I appreciate the invite. Does it mean that I will get your uploaded videos and posts somehow?
I was constructing a long response to the MOF post, and I erased it by mistake, but now I might go ahead and redo it, as you might find it interesting.
I really like Peter Rowan, and Old and In the Way.
Saw Scott Bondy at a small club recently, but the sound sucked and I was pretty disappointed. He's such a great lyricist, in addition to being a great singer. I truly believe "American Hearts" will be recognized as a classic.
Saw Brownie and Sonnie a long time ago in Berkeley - still remember "Rock Island Line".
Just downloaded JTE's Harlem Blues, pretty impressive. His dad should be proud.
I went to HSB and was blown away. What a great festival. I guess the highlight for me was the Carolina Chocolate Drops. The Avett Bros. were as good as I expected. Really liked a group I hadn't heard of previously - Band of Heathens from, of course, Austin.
OK, thanks again for the invite.
