Hi, I'm Mickey Bones.

I was born in Salem MA, a small seaport town, now more famous as a tourist stop than a shipping port. I started playing drums at age 5 and took lessons in public school. I got very good at it by high school and played in many local clubs in the Boston MA area.

I have been a plumber, rigger, auto mechanic, appliance repairman, and held many other regular jobs until 1989, while living in New Orleans, I decided to go full time with a music career.

I have always liked just about any kind of music and have played most styles in many local bands. I started to teach myself to play stringed instruments over the years and have gotten mixed results with guitar, 4 and 5 string banjo, ukulele, fiddle, appalachian dulcimer, mandolin and lap steel. I got pretty good at Cajun accordion after doing some serious study and performance over the last ten years on it.

This site is mainly about Mickey Bones and Spitwhistle, I write the songs and play stringed instuments. I'll try and update this soon with a better bio but for now, it's better than nothing.
