I went to the Justin Townes Earle show at the Bottleneck in Lawrence, Kansas on April 14th. It was a great show. It was an all acoustic show with just Justin and his fiddle player. It was one of the best shows I have seen this year.

This is going to be a great month! I just went to see Hayes Carll with Shovels & Rope, at the Bottleneck in Lawrence, Kansas, great show!! The Bottleneck is not my favorite venue, but if you want to see good live music around this area besides Kansas City this is where you have to go. You just have to ignore the drunk College kids who don't have a clue who the band is. I will return on April 14th to see Justin Townes Earle with Jay Nash, and on May 14th to see Joe Purdy! I think these shows will be a little more low key so maybe the kids will stay away.

Well, yes and no.  The 3-day passes will probably sell out super-fast, within a few minutes to a few hours.  If you go to the ACL Fest website, you can sign up to get an email notification when they go on sale. This is a little hit-or-miss, too.  I've received the email up to a day late.

The single day passes will probably be available for a few days.  Of course, these will be more expensive individually than the 3-day pass.  The good news is, even if you miss out on all of them, you can always get tickets from people on Craigslist or selling them through the ACL blog.  You do need to be careful if you do that, since these will be printpasses which means you could easily get ripped off.  However, the final bit of good news is that if you plan on coming to the Fesitival, there will always be people (sometimes scalpers, but mostly not) selling tickets outside the gates.  I've never known anyone who wanted to go who wasn't able to get a ticket somehow, and I've been going to ACL Fest for years.  There are always people who buy tickets who aren't able to go at the last minute.  Let me know if you can't get tickets and I'll be happy to keep my eyes and ears open for you.

The 2011 ACL Festival lineup hasn't been released yet.  ACL Fest will start releasing the names of the artists around the time of the Spring ticket sale - and there's no specific date for the ticket sales yet, but it will be soon.  This hopefully will be a great year, since it's the 10th anniversary!

I purchased tickets for two shows today, Ray LaMontagne June 15th in Kansas City, and Joe Purdy May 14th in Lawrence, Kansas. Two great singer song writers, this will be the first time seeing Joe, I watched Ray last summer in Iowa.
