Great article! Just to give the songwriter his due, I wanted to mention that "Long Time Gone" was written by Darrell Scott.

Marybeth D'Amico commented on David Haskin's blog post 'Musings on Patty Griffin's Remarkable Streak'
If I had to pick an incredible string of Patty Griffin albums, I would choose a slightly different crop: her debut Living With Ghosts, Flaming Red, the unreleased Silver Bell and 1000 Kisses. Impossible Dream has alot of great songs on it but I was…

I don't really believe in being ashamed of stuff you listen to. But let's see, I have always felt my love of Peter, Paul and Mary was distinctly uncool. I still listen to their stuff today, and they were great at covering then-up and…

Marybeth D'Amico commented on Easy Ed's blog post 'just follow my ten easy steps to fix the music business, and i'll never write about it again'
How can serious musicians give up on CDs when radio stations and reviewers for the most part insist on receiving them? And, no, I don't and never will believe in giving away my music for free. That tells my audience that my music has no value.

Marybeth D'Amico replied to Kyla Fairchild's discussion 'Accuracy In Internet Reporting- How do you know if what you are reading is actually true?'
News reporting in the digital age seems to mirror the open-source model of the software industry: throw the product out there full of bugs and then people send in their "improvements." There seems to be a greater tolerance for faulty…

I'm an American singer-songwriter, freelance journalist and mother of two girls. I spent many years in Germany and am now returning to my native country. Some artists I love include  Patty Griffin, Kathleen Edwards, Tift Merritt, Gillian Welch, Regina Spektor, Antje Duvekot, the Weepies and Lori McKenna. I also even listen to some guys occasionally such as Teddy Thompson, Ryan Adams, Townes van Zandt and Robert Coleman Trussel. I have a thing for the melodic groups of the 60's and 70's. Groups like the Eagles, America, the Mamas and the Papas, Simon & Garfunkel or Linda Ronstadt in her Southern Rock phase. Plus singer-songwriters like James Taylor and Carole King. I think my songs appeal to people who also like to listen or grew up on that kind of music. To me it's about the song. It should have an appealing melody and lyrics that mean something. I'm not reinventing the wheel. I have two full albums out, both produced in Texas with producer Bradley Kopp.

Great Early Reviews of The Light Inside

The first reviews of the new album are starting to pour in and they are very positive!

The UK's FlyingShoes Review called The Light Inside "thoughtful music making of high quality, bound to be widely appreciated on the Americana scene" and Get Ready to Rock, which already named Marybeth's debut one of the top albums of 2009, called it "another very fine record from an artist who deserves much wider recognition." Also memorable from ReadytoRock was the observation that "...If you're… Continue

Off To the Blue Highways

I'll be joining Bruce Robison, Robin Ludwick, Romi Mayes (recently praised on this site), Terry Evans, Tom Freund and a slew of other Americana acts this Saturday at Holland's Blue Highways Festival in Utrecht. I'm really looking foward in particular to playing with a full band and being joined by Bradley Kopp, not only an awesome guitar player but the producer of my album, "Heaven, Hell, Sin & Redmption." Should be a fun time!

Hey Marybeth - It seems like the Now Playing player has been most successful for folks. Some people with Macs have had trouble with some of the players. If that's the case for you, I'd recommend pulling a widget in from ReverbNation or iMeem and dropping it in your text box. Let me know if you have any other problems!
