For every road, there is a story...

www.losthillsmusic.com

I'm a gigging songwriter based in the the Southern Sierra, Southern San Joaquin region of California. My songs are rooted in traditional American folk music and inspired by my real life travels and experiences. I also love to play the dust bowl ballads of Woody Guthrie and the depression era songs of the Carter Family. I play at Coffee Houses, Cafes, small town fairs and art shows, any place they're serving beer and wherever my truck breaks down. I've got a big bag of protest songs, too, and I'm always ready to play for peace rallies and environmental organizations. Music can change the world, my friends, and it changes it every day...

Bridge School Benefit 2012 review. 10/20/2012

The 26th Annual Bridge School Benefit Concert. Been a huge Neil Young fan since I was 15 years old, and I've been wanting to go to these Bridge School Concerts for many years. Well the stars came into alignment and I got to go this year.

A little background. Neil had two kids, by two different wives, and they both had Cerebral Palsy. So he thought it must have something to do with him. It didn't though - it was just a strange coincidence. Cerebral Palsy is not a disease; it's an…

Drive-By Truckers at House of Blues, Los Angeles

Drive-By Truckers at the House of Blues, Los Angeles, 3/15/2012

Are the Drive-By Truckers the best rock and roll band in America? They were last night at the House of Blues….

I’ve been following this band since I read a review of their album, Southern Rock Opera, in No Depression Magazine, back in  whatever year that was. I’ve got a few of their albums, including Live at Austin City Limits, and their dvd,  Secret to a Happy Ending, but I…

The revolution will have good music....

I went down to Los Angeles City Hall, with Erin, Saturday and Sunday, to see what the OWS movement was all about. Days eight and nine of the Los Angeles occupation. Took my guitar, of course, wandered around the encampment, talked to people and played some Woody, Pete and Joe Hill songs for folks.

It's a lot bigger and better organized than the media would have you believe. Lots of tents, man, and more people than tents because lots of people come down to…

Tea Party Blues.....

An ancient curse goes something like, "May you live in interesting times." How about, "Batshit crazy times...." Some of my friends have taken exception to this tallkin' blues, saying that my characterization of the "Tea Party" is exaggerated or unfair, but every line was taken from the news...

America is voting tomorrow amidst a circus like atmosphere that has never been seen before in our history. Redbaiting that would make old Joe McCarthy proud. Candidates' handlers…
