About Me
I've been in the music biz as an artist manager for 14 years now, started with the UK's enigmatic genius John Martyn, now managing two acts from New Orleans, an all-star collection of Crescent City musicians called The New Orleans Social Club, and an extraordinary young trombone player/vocalist, Glen David Andrews. I also manage Sheila Nicholls, from L.A. by way of Colchester UK. Sheila was formerly on Hollywood Records, and is back from a 5 year hiatus with a new CD, "Songs From the Bardo".
I was Production Coordinator for a benefit CD that The New Orleans Social Club did entitled "Sing Me Back Home". The most rewarding experience of my music career, it was done in Austin TX 6 weeks after Katrina with an all-star lineup of New Orleans musicians. The "Social Club" is Henry Butler, Ivan Neville, Raymond Weber, and from The Meters, George Porter Jr and Leo Nocentelli. Guests on the Cd included Irma Thomas, John Boutte, Cyril Neville, Troy Andrews, Willie Tee and many others. The Cd was released on Sony Burgundy on April 2006. My position evolved into the band's manager, and the band has been doing selected dates since. In 2006, we played a pre-grammy party for Heineken, taped Austin City Limits the same weekend we performed at SxSW, headlined at the Austin City Limits Festival, and played the Warren Haynes Xmas Jam. 2007 saw the band performing at many festivals and as time allows with all of the band members busy schedules, you will hopefully see them again on the circuit soon.
In the late 80's, I was the General Manager of Nightstage, a great music venue in Cambridge MA (now closed. In the early 90's I promoted concerts at the Charles Playhouse in Boston, and towards the end of that decade ran indie record labels for Jonathan Edwards and T Bone Wolk. More recently I managed Boston's Amy Fairchild and Katie Terrio, NYC's Jenny Bruce and Karen Jacobsen, and from New Orleans, the New Birth Brass Band. I have been honored two times as Manager of the Year in the New Orleans OffBeat Music Awards. I live just outside Boston, but spend lots of time in New Orleans and Austin. I listen to all kinds of music, well, except that "new country" drivel and gangsta rap. Will always give a listen to original music, have a lot of respect for songwriters who expose their souls for the rest of us to see.
We do independent projects for hire as well, cd releases, press kit development, tour pr, website maintenance and development, etc.
