"Well said WEB...I was a subscriber for many years so as not to get "shut out", as you put it...a great magazine it was, and a great website it is...and Buddy Miller is indeed a great songwriter and player...nice post.."
"Great post Kevin! I actually got one of them before I looked at the list...Nilsson's "Coconut", a song I did find engaging for it's simplicity...Jon has noted above that it is all about opinion, "well done…"
"Well...I looked at the website and there is sort of a manifesto on what the band is about there, and it is pretty stream of consciousness, one long sentence...I got quite a kick out of that. I will definitely check them out...Larry Jon Wilson…"
"He's great...seeing him in September in Indianapolis...haven't gotten "Folklore" yet, but I will...love "Birmingham Road" and "Plow Through the Mystic"...I am not surprised he has a contender for album of the…"
"I have seen that 2005 record you mention and thought about getting it, but I didn't...I am going to remedy that Dennis, and thank you for reminding me about it! Indeed, a fine band and as we all know "Banana" was…"
"If that's the name of your band, you better be good...based on your other comments about music here Kurt, I know you know what you're talking about...I will check them out...no preconceived notions please..."
"That is a great song..."Sunlight" too...I had several of Jesse's studio records, but I really liked that live record the best...the band really sounds great, and his singing is pretty adventurous in places...good stuff...my dad was a…"
"Good discussion...indeed I know a few of the folks who have been invoked here, and they write great songs to scant applause (including Kurt, apparently...Inside That Box...lovely...). In addition, there are young artists in Nashville who…"
"Kurt...nice add with the Jesse Colin Young...that's my favorite record of his...love Mercy Mercy Me/What's Goin' On"...Jim Rothermel's sax and flute playing throughout, the whole band really...that's a great record...
"Ahhh...so it is the writer's skill in the use of repetition and symmetry that accounts for the sound of today's burgers er' new country songs...for the most part, the people writing songs in 'new" country aren't very…"
You know, I just stumbled upon this site by accident. Ironically, my Google search to me to a discussion that you were involved with. Go figure! After working at the John, I taught at Alex for 4 years, then took a job at Pendleton. But, I was not getting the coaching jobs there that I felt I should, so I went to Hamilton Southeastern. I taught chemistry there for 7 years. I was an assistant basketball coach for a year, then the ADs asked me to take over the boys' track team. I'm going to brag here so bare with it, but during my 4th year, we beat Carmel to win the County, Sectional & Regional meets. I had great athletes the last couple of years! I had to quit in 2005 because of a back fusion surgery that did not go well. I tried to teach at Fishers HS and did until 2012. I am now on disability with chronic back pain and chronic back spasms, which sucks!!! Tell Jen that I'm a Gomer now! HAHA!! Now, I am writing a small music blog on Facebook that my friends and former students/athletes read out of politeness/support to me. If you are on FB, check it out and tell me what you think. It's called Dr. K's Musical Exam Room. One of my pervie friends came up with the title. I hope you are well. Tell me what you're up to now. Can't wait to get started in here!
