I saw an artist I enjoy last week and he was in an unusually chatty mood (he mumbled between songs).  He played a one hour set, left the stage and the house lights and music came on almost…Continue

Isle of Wight Deluxe Edition: The Tulip Tapes

Even the most casual music fan (of a certain age) knows Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Doors, The Moody Blues and a host of others played the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970. Numerous editions of the concert have been released over the years on eight-track, cassette, vinyl and cd.  Bonus tracks, of varying quality, trickled out but every last one ignored Tiny Tim's seminal contribution to not only the sound of the Sixties but the birth of country-rock. "There Will Always Be An England" and "Love…See More

Dex Romweber Duo – Images 13 (Album Review)

Dexter Romweber's appearance in  the film Athens GA Inside Out and on Late Night With David Letterman in 1990 gave hope that a cult artist, an outsider, could break out and into the mainstream.  That never happened. Dexter persevered and put out a series of influential albums with Flat Duo Jets (e.g. The Black Keys and The White Stripes).  And…

Hal, I'm not sure what this means to have accepted you as a "friend." Does this mean we can email each other directly? This request to be accepted as a friend  came with the announcement that Tonio K. agreed to do an interview with you for No Depression. Do you know when that's going to happen?

Thanks for the kind words.

Wow, thanks so much, Hal! Much appreciated. The interview you did for us last time was really huge for us, so I'm so psyched you're willing to give our new album a listen. Yes, if you can shoot me your address I'll send you a CD or if you prefer, a flash drive with our mp3s and album artwork.

Thanks again for your support. It really means a lot.

All the best,
Jess

Hi Hal,

Just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your recent comment on a Kim's post about this year's Americana nominees at the Grammys here on No Depression. It means a lot to the folks who blog and post other content here to know that it's being noticed and appreciated. Since the majority of content on this site is crowd-sourced, community involvement is what makes everything here on ND possible. So, thanks again for taking the time to post comments - we really appreciate it!

Thanks for the music tip! Love that song! :) (Even though I, too, have an apartment in the ghetto that my mamma bought me. Looking forward to paying the bills soon, though...)

I do have a CD out...called The White Cat Sessions.  I recorded it at Jack's White Cat Studio.  I have all 13 tracks uploaded to my page here on No Depression.  You're lucky you have that trio album of Shake, Jack and Dana...it's long since been out of print.  cya

Hi Hal,

No I can't say I've ever seen Herschel.  Do you remember The Shake Russell Band from that era in Houston?  He was extremely popular at that time.  My producer, Jack Saunders, was then his bass player and they later became duo partners.  I'll check around for Herschel...good to meet you.

Thanks Hal.  I released the EP in March 2011.  I was lucky enough to have some folks pay attention to it and was featured in a piece on ND -

I'll keep you posted on new stuff as it becomes available.

Of course, I'm no Linda Chorney :)
