Gregory Wallace replied to T Hanssen's discussion 'What was your very first favorite song?'
I ran a record store for years, and can attest that mislabeling errors happen occasionally.   My favorite was when a very large African-American customer handed me a hardcore crunk cd he'd just  bought a few minutes ago. He…

I'd like to think that if Elvis had lived long enough, maybe there'd been some album(s) like the Johnny Cash/Rick Rubin ones. Not neccesarily with Rubin -- then again, why not? -- but you get my drift.

Gregory Wallace commented on Adam Sheets's blog post 'Review: Jimmy Webb- Just Across the River'
Agree with David above: "Ten Easy Pieces" is a must-have for any Webb fan. I've seen Webb play twice -- both solo -- and his both shows were very good: great piano-playing, terrific insightful storytelling (his story about having…

"One Too Many Mornings"... great song. I love Jerry Jeff Walker's version, too.

Dang, Peter... I could've sworn I remember a blockbuster double-issue that compared/contrasted Silver Convention and the Andrea True Connection.

<<The only Christmas album you ever need is Phil Spector's, btw.'>> That figures, since the only Christmas song you'll ever need is Darlene Love's "Christmas"(Baby, Please Come Home)".

We're close to the same age, Peter, and I, too, thought Fender was the funniest thing in the world back then. I'm glad I know better now. Don't even get me started on how I felt about Morris Albert.

Well you do have to be familiar with the inventory, yes? Sorry about the job loss, but congrats on the house and marriage! I've been a bit of a recluse myself, but I'm coming out of it. Got a new tattoo! That's the highlight of my summer so far. Most of my insane rants are confined to my Facebook page these days. If you're a member you're welcome to friend me if you're not too easily offended.

I'm just working too much, trying to keep from strangling people. I'll be in the states in October, west coast, doing the tourist thing, SF to NM, driving around, hanging with Robotclaw, try to get to see Linda Ray, eating too much. The usual . . . Good to see you!

You got it .... I'm Donk. The fiancee and I are married now, btw.

You can see Jeremy on TV now, if only briefly. The director Craig Brewer ("Hustle & Flow", "Black Snake Moan") has done a series on Memphis musicians called "$5 Dollar Cover" that's airing on MTV. Jeremy makes an appearance playing bass and singing with a local guy named Harlan T. Bobo. It's a good series, worth a watch.

Sorry,

The 'real' names confused me.

You're Triton, right? AKA Capt. Donk?
Donkey? Donkeyhead? Your callsign from when you were an artillary officer?

Anyway, on that visit, you let me stay in your appartment in that high rise in Memphes, and Jeremey and I hung out all evening waiting to get in touch with you, which we finally did at your fiance's house.

Sorry for the mix up.

Whoa, Dude... You have me and Jeremy confused, I think!

Jer was/is the bass player ... you and I met briefly at my house, if I recall. Jer is still playing bass for various outfits around town, but he has a real job as well. He's also married now... was he married when you guys got together?

Seems like your life is going swimmingly...

Gregory,

Havn't talked to you since I saw you and Triton in Memphis back in the Summer of '01 (We didn't know it was Pre-9/11!)

Are you still a working bass player, or have you succumbed to real life/day job hell like the rest of us.
