Music

I'm a singer-songwriter living on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State. Been a music lover as long as I remember, playing an instrument since thirteen, and in and out of bands since high school.

My latest project was  to song writing and playing electric bass for a local Seattle band called "Lucky Suns." Check out some of our tunes below.

Since my relocation to Port Angeles I have been writing songs and looking for like minded musicians.

"Somewhere in America today, a person, probably a kid, is hearing "The Weight" for the first time. The mystery, emotive context and intellectual resonance is with that person.  For that person, the song is not overplayed and cliche.…"

Concert Review: The Stanfields at Club 9one9, Victoria BC, March 29, 2013

Described as a blend of “Celtic drinking songs with a heavy metal edge and a dash of blues[1],” the Stanfields won the 2013 East Coast Music Awards Fan’s Choice Entertainer of the Year and Group Recording of the Year for their latest album, Death and Taxes.   A band that pairs a Fender Telecaster and the traditional Bouzouki (played by Jon Landry and Jason Wright, respectively) are a must see in my book.…

Crossroads: An Appreciation

Living in a sleepy Southern Eastern Colorado town, my entertainment choices were limited.  We had one theater that played the same movie for what felt like months.   My group of friends waited breathlessly for MTV to finally come to town (it eventually arrived in 1987; hello Headbangers Ball!).  But we had VHS.

One tape we wore out was Crossroads starring Ralph Macchio and Joe Seneca (Ry Cooder and Arlen Roth supplied the memorable soundtrack).  It…

Mike Cooley & Country

Recently, this community has had a debate about the best country singer.  DBT fancies themselves as a rock-n-roll outfit, but I submit that Mike Cooley's contributions are pure country.  As of today, Mike Cooley has to be one of the top five contemporary country singers.
