I was completely blown away by Warner when  I first saw them a number of years ago ... part of his secret is that he has no cable connecting his guitar to his amp (I'm guessing he's got some sort of remote control system) ... maybe…

Any hints of who you've got lined up. Did I mention that Member of Parliament Charlie Angus still has a band called Grievous Angels (had the name before the US band) but he's based in Sudbury. I can drop him a line if you like.... David

Close Encounters of the Bob Dylan Kind

Way back when I was first going to art college ... this would be the mid-60s in Toronto ... I used to take the subway to get down to the school ... one busy morning the Bloor station was crowded with humanity headed downwards when I spotted someone on the up escalator who looked very familiar. That pile of curly hair, those shades, the gaunt face ... it HAD to be Bob Dylan. Unbeknownst to me Dylan was playing Massey Hall that night. There was a picture of him in the paper the next day ...… Continue

REM BLOG CONTEST

I can only speak for how the first two albums affected me personally ... I got interested in them after reading a review somewhere that likened Michael Stipe's mumbling singing to the sound of bees buzzing over a field or meadow ... I bought both Reckoning and Murmer and really got into deciphering what in blazes Stipe was singing about. My assistant (PBUH) mentioned having encountered a book as a child about several Chinese brothers who had to do amazing feats ... such as… Continue

The eagerly anticipated digital release of Kirsten DeHaan’s EP “Thorns On A Crown” is right around the corner. On Tuesday October 6, the new and highly acclaimed alternative rock singer and songwriter’s songs can be purchased at major online retailers such as iTunes, Amazon.com, Napster, and EMusic. Kirsten has developed quite a following in a relatively short period of time, because of the uniqueness of her voice and style, which has been compared to the sweetness of Liz Phair, a soft, airy quality like that of Sia, and the rich alto of Fiona Apple.

In the meantime, register and download her single "1984" for free at HYPERLINK "http://kdlocal.com" http://kdlocal.com

Being stuck in traffic with good music is never a drag. It's a chance to really listen to an album instead of have it as background. Glad Red House/Eliza Gilkyson was on for the ride.

I've seen Robbie several times--more than several--on his own and playing with other local musicians.

Many of them play regularly at The Hideout (robbie, devil in a woodpile, kelly hogan, sally timms, jon langford, etc.)...if you've never been to the Hideout, it's reason enough to come to Chicago--their block party every Sept. is the festival to be at each and every year!

And the really didn't put the u-boat away, they just gave it its own special "fancy" space in the museum!
