MEDICINE in the modern sense is perceived to be a treatment for ailment, but in the ancient sense particularly in the minds of Native Americans, medicine is all that is good in nature connecting the spirit world with the physical. The Medicine of music can be a direct connection with all it is to be human and also our best prescription for the disconnecting-ailments of our modern culture"See More

Profile Information

"If you don't stand for anything in your life, then your music won't stand for anything either". This rather bold statement is from the mind and mouth of Juno award winner Clayton Bellamy. With the release of his fourth solo album "Five Crow Silver", Bellamy is out to back that statement up in his typical "take no prisoner's" style. Most people know of Clayton from his years with his platinum selling band The Road Hammers, but this is only one piece of a large and varied musical puzzle.

Delving deep into his roots rock influences, Bellamy has enlisted a who's who of rock n' roll royalty to flesh out his new collection of songs,  "Five Crow Silver".  Recorded at various locales in Canada and America, the line up includes Garth Hudson (The Band), Bobby Keys (The Rolling Stones), Ian McLagan (The Faces), Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton from Stevie Ray Vaughn's legendary backing band Double Trouble, Gordie Johnson (Big Sugar), Tom Wilson (Blackie and the Rodeo King's), Audley Freed (The Black Crowes), Chad Cromwell (Neil Young, Joe Walsh), Kelly Prescott, Mike Plume and his old buddies from The Road Hammers, Chris Byrne and Corbett Frasz. While the supporting cast is truly stellar, the main emphasis is still on Clayton's hard charging vocals and his unflinching autobiographical look at life, love, music and the never ending quest for redemption and fulfillment.

Co-producing "Five Crow Silver" with veteran  producer/writer/mixer Scott Baggett (Alison Krauss, John Waite, The Road Hammers, Billy Joe Shaver and a list of dozens), Bellamy has crafted a fully realized suite of songs that draw from all musical genres. There's the Stones/Faces swagger of "You Could Be Mine", the Celtic rock stomp of The Pogues-ish "Victim Of My Own Compromise" and the Neil Young and Crazy Horse white knuckle ride through "End Of My Rope".  The first single "Goodbye America" takes an honest inside look at the American dream  on a track that could easily be on any Clash album.

But it's not just about wearing your influences on your sleeve. Bellamy has taken all of these musical touchpoint's and melded them into his own cohesive musical vision. Long known for his athletic marathon live shows, Clayton now has the recorded proof  to back up the opening statement in the first paragraph. He's standing tall for his beliefs and after one listen to "Five Crow Silver" you'll be a true believer too. Guaranteed.
