Emchy is the affectionate nickname of accordion player, poet and all over hellraiser Cindy Emch.

With a love of music forged in Detroit steel, flavored by New Orleans and currently growing on the breezy hills of Oakland California she loves to play and listen to music of all kinds.

Right now at this very moment Emchy is playin acoustic gypsy punk, americana, ghost town country, murder ballads and drinking songs for the proletariat with the Bay Area bands Vagabondage, Rhubarb Whiskey and the Oakland Wine Drinkers Union, Local #88. Singin' love songs to whiskey and drinkin songs to friends she's looking at you to grab that guitar and sing along the campfire with her.

marching towards finishing the album

yesterday was fun - only one band practice and so we hella made it count. recording master tracks for what four - five songs? a solid train of work from noon until 6pm with only a ten minute break for fooding. not bad. the vocal retakes are always the hardest for me. making sure i get the sound i want. singing the exact right way i have it in my head. thankfully i only sing on some of the songs and not all. Jim - our producer, added some amazing touches of banjo and piano on a few numbers which… Continue

Junkstock a resounding success!

Well yesterday was the first ever JUNKSTOCK. A family friendly DIY music fest featuring junk bands, jug bands, saw playing workshops, make your own kazoo wackiness and way way more.

I must say making my way to the hard to find Marx Meadow by 11am was a struggle, but once I overcame that obstacle the day was a blast. Sure it was kinda cold and foggy, but welcome to summer in San Francisco. I made sure to take part in the saw workshop since I've been trying to learn and struggling but… Continue

tubas and murder ballads

it's been a wild week. it started off sorta rough when I got laid off from my day job but never fear music as always is the safety net. Vagabondage is working on our first full length album and spend most of the day on Monday laying down the final vocals for the first half and scratch song drafts for the second. We're recording with Jim F. over at The Dark Room in SF and it's pretty rad. Jim has not only tons of instruments and recording hoohaw... he's also a great guy with a lot of good… Continue
