Alan Wagman commented on modernacoustic's blog post 'An open letter to 'fans' who talk incessantly through shows'
Had a similar experience at a Carolina Chocolate Drops show in NYC.  I not so politely asked the offenders to go downstairs to the bar so those of us there to listen could do so.  They stopped.  It is truly annoying but I haven't…

Alan Wagman commented on Something Else! Reviews's blog post 'Erik Friedlander - Bonebridge'
Thanks for featuring one of NYC's finest musicians.  If you have never heard it before, check out Friedlander's work on John Zorn's Masada String Trio and Bar Khokba records.  Simply amazing stuff (which in no way diminishes…

You missed the Simon and Garfunkel influence.  Seems to me a big point of reference for this music.

This was a great read (your review and the book itself)!  Loved the book and very happy I bought it.

Alan Wagman commented on Something Else! Reviews's blog post 'Forgotten series: Lucinda Williams - Essence (2001)'
This is probably my least favorite Lucinda record, for many of the reasons cite in your post.  Sweet Old World is still my all time fave with Car Wheels and West high on the list.

Alan Wagman commented on Kim Ruehl's blog post 'Great love songs'
"God Only Knows" is for me the greatest love song ever written.  I would add a personal favorite:  "Reunion Hill" by Richard Shindell.  Beautiful love song that never fails to leave me in awe of Richard's…

Alan Wagman replied to Terry Foldenauer's discussion '5 Most Overrated Bands or Singers'
Have to agree with the others here--DBT is completely underrated and is probably one of the 2 or 3 best bands out there today. And I haven't even seen them live.

Have to disagree on Sufjan. Complete original. Never boring. And doesn't someone have to be well known to be overrated? His audience is quite small.

Alan Wagman commented on Dustin Ogdin's blog post 'Gypsy-Flavored Chocolate Drops'
They performed it together at a show last month at Bowery Ballroom in NYC. It was tremendous. Be aware, as noted in the press release, that one of the 4 songs is a re-recording of Hit 'Em Up Style, from Genuine Negro Jig. Also, definitely check…

Alan Wagman commented on Annaliese Moyer's blog post 'Ladies and Gentlemen... Patti freaking Smith'
Patti is the best. My rock and roll hero! I've seen her many times and while her anger sometimes now seems staged, she is still an awesome performer and her songs have very much stood the test of time.

Alan Wagman commented on No Depression's blog post 'Justin Townes Earle Interview Contest'
Justin, Your records and your stage persona seem to come from very different places. Your records are, for lack of a better word 'polished', while your stage persona is wired and raw. I was blown away when I saw you for the first time…
