I was just a young girl listening to Waylon on the radio.   Year and years later...still listening and loving it.  There is just something in his voice that is special and unlike many other artists.  His guitar work is fantastic...as is the back up bands.  All around good country sounds.  Classic.

Great ,but not really a live recoding. Live At JD's was recorded at Audio Recorders in Phoenix with a simulated "live" audience. It does capture the ambience of JD's and what Waylon and the Waylors set was like at the time.Audio Recorders was the site for Duane Eddy's early hits. They got the heavy reverb for the"boss" guitar with a long piece of metal pipe with an amp at one end and a mic at the other . Jesse Coulter was married to Duane before Waylon
My ole DJ buddy Johnny D did the notes for the Bear Family reissue of 'live at JD's" . I will try to post a video of him narrating a clip of Waylon's introduction into the Az. Music Hall Of Fame in the Video secton

Live at JD's is a great cd...Waylon banters with the audience and the cd is just a lot of fun to listen to.

Yes Frank, and did you know there is alive CD of Waylon's performances at JD's. Called "Live at JD's" - it's a great disc and really gives you a sense of being part of the audience. You can find it online at Amazon.

Back in the 60's , Waylon was the house band at JD's, a legendary club in the Salt River bottom between Scottsdale and Tempe Az. that had country upstairs and rock downstairs. Before cowboys and hippies got along, I would risk bodily harm to catch a few of by Waylon before heading downstairs. Bobby Bare saw him there, told Chet Atkins and the rest is history
