I just wanted to let you know that following on from the great response to their Black Music / White Music album and tour in February, Europe’s finest post-punk blues and roots outfit Stiv Cantarelli & The Silent Strangers return at the end of May for more dates.
In case you've forgotten, Stiv fronted Italian alt.country legends Satellite Inn, who were once snapped up by MoodFood Records in North Carolina to replace their departing cash cows Whiskeytown. Through touring solidly in the US, Stiv became close friends with Richmond Fontaine, who went on to back him on his 2011 solo album Innerstate.
The tour will be accompanied by the Three Sides EP, featuring the album tracks ‘Mahogany Jones’ and ‘Hundred Thousand Stones’, alongside a brand new song ‘Ten Minutes’ Drive’. The EP will be released digitally by Stovepony Records and distributed by Cargo from Tuesday 28 May, but special limited edition tour CDs featuring three different cover designs and different tracklisting will be available at gigs.
The full tour dates are….
Mon 27 May Railway Hotel, Southend-on-Sea
Tues 28 May 12 Bar Club, London
Wed 29 May Ten Feet Tall, Cardiff
Thurs 30 May Railway, Winchester
Fri 31 May Puzzle Hall Inn, Sowerby Bridge
Sat 1 June Greystones, Sheffield

One of Phil Lee's scenes in the movie The One Who Loves You. Phil performs onscreen and plays Jimmy Earl, a hard bitten one hit wonder country star sage living out of a suit case in a motel room. (where's my hit? says The Mighty King of Love) . This from an extensive roots-inspired Country soundtrack, which features more music by Phil Lee.The movie includes a new recording of Lee’s “I'm The Why She’s Gone” by hard-core country maverick and Austin Music Hall of Famer Dale Watson, as well as scorching performances by country Academy of Country Music Awards nominees Jann Brown (“Ain’t No Train”) and Joy Lynne White (“One More Time”) in the company of Amy Rigby More clips and music here. http://www.theonewholovesyoumovie.com/music/
Legendary Italian roots rock band Mandolin Brothers have joined the crowdfunding trail in order to make their new album. Formed in 1979 and comprising some of the most highly respected musicians on the Italian roots scene, they've made several albums, the last of which was recorded in Austin, TX with various luminaries including Cindy Cashdollar, Merel Bregante (Nitty Gritty Dirt Band) and Cody Braun (Reckless Kelly). I saw them in Pavia last year and they were f*****g brilliant!
