Ive a page on No Depression! there is an other ambition fulfilled in that one sentence, flying as it is from the ashes of every-ones favourite magazine . The NO DEPRESSION moniker even more relevent as rallying cry for these times of massive social change.
Here we all are with a finger on the pulse of a new born baby which in my opinion has the potencial to achieve great things (way beyond reviewing albums and advertising product) but is born into a world of uncertainty. Id be interested in any of your thoughts on this Nign thing and No Depressions adventure into inter-"action" with its legion of fans and where this crazy little thing called music is heading in the new world order of things.

Ofcourse tell me how The Medicine Show has chaged you life and made your forture (or not) It certainly did one of those for me, and we live in hope on the other (ever the optomist)

Look at this forum as the global village camp fire, lets meet and pow wow.

The original Medicine Shows travelled the west until recent history selling snake oil remedies and featuring music and other entertainment's, Country pioneers Hanks Williams and Roy Acuff got their starts on Medicine Shows. Hank met his wife then Audrey Mae Sheppard, a farm girl from Banks, AL, in 1943 while he was playing a medicine show.

MEDICINE in the modern sense is perceived to be a treatment for ailment, but in the ancient sense particularly in the minds of Native Americans, medicine is all that is good in nature connecting the spirit world with the physical. The Medicine of music can be a direct connection with all it is to be human and also our best prescription for the disconnecting-ailments of our modern culture".

We have two snake pit sessions this week, the first comes from Seattle Washington, the highly acclaimed
Zoe Muth & The Lost High Rollers, she plays tracks from her two recordings and Zoe & her band played
a real fine set and slipped a wonderful gospel song in as an encore.
Our second session was recorded last November, we held off airing the session until Irish Grainne Duffy's bluesey debut UK album was ready for release.
The record of the week comes from the US East coast capital of country, Brooklyn New York, there seems to be almost as many bluegrass & country bands based there as Nashville. Well I searched hi and low for a skinny American musician in Largs this afternoon.  No result although I was invited to a spiritualist prayer gathering! Might have been interesting. Anyway, need to get some up to date phone so I can check things out on the move. Did have a nice coffee in Nardini's

We have the wondrous Phil Lee in session at the snake pit today....his last session a few years ago was a manic wild party, we are prepared this time and we don't have Dale Reno staying with us. Once that's done  hot honky tonkers The Sweetback Sisters arrive....looks like a super fun day at The House of Mercy....Barry
