Rather than post each update as a separate post I've decided it makes more sense to post each update as a comment to this thread. If you want to keep up on what's going on here just check the comments here.

Yesterday was a slower day as SXSW transitions from Interactive to Music. I attended a keynote interview of Daniel Ek, CEO of Spotify titled "The Future of Music Delivery". I have Rhapsody at my house and stream music that way so I have no doubts that music delivery is headed to the cloud and in the not too distant future most of us will be accessing our music there.

Next up a panel titled "Mobile Advertising in 2010: How to pay the bills" It was more about mobile in general and not specifically about mobile advertising which is something I'm interested in learning more about.

Attended the annual BMI Howdy Texas welcome BBQ at Stubb's and caught Caitlin Rose's set. There was a blog about her posted on the site a few weeks back so check that out if you want to know more about her. It's a tough setting for an artist to play as most people are there to chat but she held and/or caught the attention of many party attendees during her set. I'd first seen her play at a party during the AMA conference and really enjoyed her set both then and last night.

There wasn't as much music happening on Tuesday night as there will be the rest of the week as the official showcases don't begin until tonight. I did manage to catch Joshua James and the one I'd been very eager to see, Jakob Dylan with Neko Case and Kelly Hogan. Unfortunately the sound in the venue was awful and I couldn't hear Neko and Kelly's vocals at all. That made for a very disappointing experience. What I could hear sounded great and makes me incredibly excited to hear the record they are releasing on April 11th.
There is so much going on here it's hard to find the time for even a short blog post. Yesterday was action packed. Started out the day by hitting the Paste Party to see Lisse. I've been hearing and reading quite a bit about her and wanted to check it out for myself. She was really great. Lived up to the hype.

Next were a couple panels: Social Networks and the Future for Musicians and Crowdfunding Music: Raising Money from Your Fans. Some good tips and tools there for musicians. Both panels were very positive as to the future for musicians and their ability to earn revenue.

Next off to see the Carolina Chocolate Drops. Only caught the last two songs and would have liked to have seen more. If I had to quickly describe it I'd say they are a hip hop infused string band. I realize that sounds crazy but they totally make it work.

Best show of the night was Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland. First Melissa played a set of her music with Luke in her band, then he played a set of his music with her in his band. I preferred his set to hers but they were both great. She had a little Maria McKee thing going on some songs which was great. I'm excited to watch how the music they make together develops over time.
