hi, i'd love to see vic as i've never seen him before. i remember seeing a show on pbs about 12 years ago that had him playing some songs and it was really cool.
I just want to see the show because having greatly enjoyed the No Depression show at Marymoor Park this summer, I wanted to get some more good live music. I know these are different bands than played then, but that was all new to me, too, except for Gillian Welch! I'm hoping to find some new local favorite music! Thanks and good luck!
Howdy!
I have wanted to see Vic ever since I first saw his cameo appearance in Slingblade. Remember that, Billy Bob Thorntons surprise hit movie?
I first saw Vic at the "old" Crocodile in the early 90's. It was an incredible show. Vic played a few songs from a setlist, but what remember most is how he took requests for a good portion of the evening. Some he flat-out rejected in his surly way even before they were suggested, but he seemed to accommodate most. He kept a glass of whiskey by his side that he sipped in between songs, which produced cheers from the audience, to which he responded "DON'T ENCOURAGE ME, GODDAMN IT!" Later on, when "Is the Actor Happy" was released, my wife and I had "Guilty by Association" played as our wedding processional. On our honeymoon to North Carolina, we re-arranged our travel plans to go to Athens when we learned he was playing at the 40-Watt for the Sweet Relief benefit. My wife is a huge Fugazi fan, so we are eager to see this show.
I saw Vic in Ballard years ago. He opened for Jim Carroll, who I'd always wanted to see live. Of course, Jim died recently. When Vic rolled out on the stage in his wheelchair, the visual was somewhat jumbled. He looked small and hunched up. He was unshaven and appeared to be a little "off." Not knowing anything about him, I was a bit put off. Then, he strummed that damn guitar and wailed with a voice that seemed to start from the center of the earth and did its damndest to reach to the heavens. I was mesmorized and have been ever since...

"Florida, Floreeeeeeda"...
I put all your names on pieces of paper in a sack and drew one out. I wish I could give you all tickets to the show! Unfortunately I can't and the winner is Greg Forbes. Congrats Greg! Please send me a message to confirm that you and a guest definitely plan to attend the show tomorrow and I'll have your name added to the guest list. If you can't make it please let me know so I can choose another winner.
